Today’s Random Player From The Baseball Project That May Or May Not Amount To Anything is Mike Hegan. Hegan was born in Cleveland in 1942, attended St. Ignatius High School and John Carroll University. He was the son of former Tribe catcher Jim Hegan. He and Doug Mincher are the only two players to represent the Seattle Pilots in the All-Star Game. He was a better hitter than his dad (which isn’t saying much; Jim hit .249 in 1947 and THAT was his career best), posting a career 104 OPS+. Several years after his playing career he got behind the microphone as a color analyst for the Cleveland Indians. He died two years ago Christmas Day.
