Today’s Random Player From The Baseball Project That May Or May Not Amount To Anything is Ron Hassey. Hassey started his major league career in Cleveland in 1978 and played for the Indians until he was traded with Rick Sutcliffe and George Frazier to the Cubs for Joe Carter, Mel Hall, and Don Schulze. On May 15, 1981 he was Len Barker’s catcher for his perfect game, with Hassey going 1-4 with and RBI. After bouncing around with four teams he played his final season with the Montreal Expos. On July 28, 1991 he was future Indian Dennis Martinez’s catcher for his perfect game. Hassey remains the only catcher to catch two perfect games.
